Tarkarli beach is one of the numerous and amazingly beautiful beaches spread across the Konkan sea coast overlooking the Arabian Sea in the state of Maharashtra. Travelers get attracted to Tarkarli because of it’s clean white sand beach, water sports, forts, beautiful sunset and not to mention it has very less crowd. Now it is also famous for Scuba Diving and Snorkeling. An evening walk on the coastline of Arabian sea with the sun setting down along the horizon will refresh and rejuvenate you both mentally and physically. It seemed that my quench to find a beautiful calm beach came to halt after visiting Tarkarli.
We were a group of 6 friends and reached Tarkarli at around 3 – 3:30 PM and checked into our hotel. There are a lot of hotels or say “Niwas Nihayari” in Malvan language around the beach which are all just a few mins walk from the beach, but MTDC has placed its resort right at the beach and you can even see the sunset right from your room. Our hotel was just 2 min walk from the beach and we headed the the beach right after checking in. The very first view of the beach left me in true astonishment, the euphony of waves with the panoramic view of sea and the sun peeking from the clouds was a fascinating moment.
After spending some time on beach absorbing the sound of waves, relaxing in the sand and a bath in the natures lap we went to the only shack that we were able to see near the MTDC resort. Right on the gate of MTDC gate we meat some agents who asked us for scuba diving, there are a lot of agencies who can help you in scuba diving and its better if you bargain with them. We were all set and excited for the next day so much that we had scarcity of clothes so we even went to shopping in Malvan :P.
I woke up early in the morning and decide to go for a walk on the coastline and mesmerize myself with the beauty of the virgin beach. It was as perfect as i imagined, the cool morning breeze touching your face, a few people strolling around, a couple enjoying their morning walk, few children playing with the waves which were spreading throughout the horizon and the music of waves was amazing. It was perfect to just sit, relax and let all your worries go.
Soon we were ready to go for scuba diving and headed for the beach from where our agent will send us on the spot through a boat. We all were set for the for the Scuba Diving and got geared up one by one. The duration of Scuba Diving is around 15-20 mins but the experience is just extraordinary. You can spot some fishes and see the beautiful coral but you have to be lucky if you want to meet the gang of fishes. I dont know if it was the time of the year or in general but the water was not very clean still it is a must that you try Scuba Diving while in Tarkarli.
There are a lot more water activities such as para-sailing,boating, banana ride, bumper ride, jet-ski ride that you can do in Tarkarli but because of shortage of time we had to leave after scuba diving. Its recommended to plan for a complete weekend there but we just had one day to explore the beauty of virgin beach. Its definitely a place where i would like to go again and just sit on the beach and relax and get refreshed and rejuvenated.
