India is the first thing that comes to ones mind after hearing Cricket okay maybe after Sachin, and India has many reasons for this. One of them is that India hosts the Worlds highest Cricket Ground Chail located around 44 km south of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh state of India. Chail is situated at an altitude of 2,250 m and is also considered as hikers paradise, owing to its distance away from the hustle and bustle of Shimla.

Although Chail has not hosted any international match yet and is mainly used as a a play ground of the Military school in Chail but after the success of Dharamshala Cricket Ground in Himachal Pradesh the State Goverment is planning to convert this into a fully functional international stadium. During the school vacations, the ground is sometimes used to play polo. The ground also includes a well-maintained basketball court. Occasionally, even football is played on the ground as there are goal posts present. The Himachal Pradesh government now intends to build the necessary infrastructure at the stadium in order for it to be considered to host BCCI and ICC sanctioned matches. However Chail Cricket Ground could lose the elite honor of being the highest cricket ground in the world if the remote district of Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh, which is at an elevation of 3048 m, realize the dream of building a cricket stadium.
